The school was established in 2008 to provide a balanced and challenging education based principles and curriculum to meet
the needs of the children of the Bahrain and expatriate communities. In 2009, the School further strengthened its commitment to its international outlook by the introduction of the IGCSE and AS/A level course which provides entrance to universities and colleges worldwide.

The diverse international student body leads to the natural development of goodwill, friendliness, tolerance and understanding among the students. The education system, besides providing an all-round education intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically, also offers guidance in critical thinking, social openness and in purposeful research.

Students are given opportunities to develop their own talents as well as to be aware of national and global issues, while contributing
to the healthy development of the needs of their won school campus and community. Homework is given to encourage and develop independent study skills and to complement particular fields of study. A homework timetable is issued to all students who are required to complete the work as assigned by subject teachers.

THE ACADEMIC YEAR

First Term                —           September – December
Second Term                  —           January – March
Third Term               —           April – June

EXAMINATION & ASSESSMENT:
An academic year of the school is divided into three terms i.e. autumn, spring and summer. The School year is from September to June. Exams are conducted in December, March and June respectively.
In all classes, students sit for regular assessments. These take many forms such as examinations, coursework essays, group work and practical exercises, quizzes and students’ projects. The completed submissions play a vital role in measuring student progress.
All assessments must be the creative and original work of the student where, for example, essays written are in their own words and not copied (lifted) from a book, lecture notes or the Internet.
Many courses include large elements of teamwork whereby students are asked to work cooperatively. The student group may then be asked to provide a collective assessment at the end of the process.
CIS student must:
•    Develop original skills and give evidence of competency.
•    Present ideas using their own words.
•   Apply and critique those ideas.
•   Analyze, evaluate, discuss, describe and summarize the work of someone else using their own words and examples.

EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

The educational philosophy of the school lays emphasis on the training and expanding the scientific imagination of students. Guided by such convictions, the School educates its students by confronting them with real-life problems and inculcating in them problem-solving skills. They are encouraged to explore new grounds and to cultivate leadership qualities. We wish and hope to produce future generation who would distinguish themselves by their humanistic and ethical standards, the depth and breadth of their knowledge, their utilitarian approach to problem solving. We in CIS envisage the overall development of our children bearing, character and personality, in such a way that they grow to take up the challenges of life with competence, confidence and fortitude.
